From eating my favourite street food to attending 5-day long wedding events to jamming on Bollywood songs with my best friends to letting parents do all the household work to having no responsibilities is something we all miss while moving away from family!

The truth is it does not hit you that you will be losing a lot in the journey until you have moved out!

When I moved out from India to Canada, I was excited, on the cloud 9 basically! Now, it’s been almost 2 years since I haven’t seen my people, my friends, and my family! TBH it sucks!

My goal is not to discourage you or anything but I want you to know that if you are in the process of moving away from family then make sure you live every moment that you have because tomorrow is going to be tough!

Moving cities is okay because you know you can see each other on weekends and other occasions! But once you move abroad, it’s gonna be different!

So, if you are planning to move away from your family for the first time in your life, this is what you need to know!

You are responsible for your actions!

Trust me, it’s not easy. But you eventually learn it while others get used to it!

However, you can prepare yourself for it by taking small actions starting today:

  • Learn how to cook basic meals.
  • Learn from your parents or someone who is an expert in financial planning. You must know how to manage expenses.
  • Educate yourself on the financial system of the country you are moving to.
  • Choose your city/province/country/college wisely.
  • Think about your luggage. Bring only what you need. Most things are available everywhere. Don’t shop too much.
  • Spend quality time with your friends and family.
  • Set up your goals. Have a proper plan even if nothing goes on accordingly. Having a plan helps you to be focused.
  • Keep yourself updated on the current news.
  • Follow Youtubers who share a similar experience as yours. Ask them questions.
  • Start establishing some daily habits as they will help you at a personal level.

Staying positive is mandatory!

Mark my words, because once you change countries, you are changing your life. It’s an extremely big change. Therefore, you have to be very patient, extremely positive and mindful about things.

Because you are going to start from scratch, it’s not going to be simple and clear. You will be making a lot of mistakes during the process. But if you keep yourself positive and trust the universe, you will be taken care of.

Here is my guide on staying positive all the time!

Nobody can take what’s yours!
