I can understand when you say it was such a busy day that you didn’t even get a chance to cleanse your face. But your skin doesn’t care.

As long as you treat her (your skin) well, it’ll make you pretty and appealing. But if you don’t give your skin much-needed attention, you will suffer more than you think.

Let’s dive into the reasons that make cleansing such an important task to do every day.

Why is it important to cleanse?

Ever wondered, why as kids we were taught to practice hand-washing and face-fashing first and the last thing in the day? Well, now you will know!

In Morning:

  • To recover and exfoliate your skin from the night processes, it is essential to cleanse your skin before starting the day.
  • For those who don’t know, our skin produces a natural oil called sebum which protects the skin from environmental stressors. However, when you don’t cleanse, excess sebum gets mixed with all the dirt and impurities over your skin ( exposed to you throughout the day) can cause serious problems such as acne, blemishes, enlarged pores, etc. Do you want them? No. Then start cleansing.
  • You also don’t want your skin to be dull and rough but smooth and shiny. Believe me, cleansing regularly can prevent dehydration of the skin.
  • It also prevents wrinkles and delays ageing.
  • Cleansing also promotes better withholding of the product and balances the PH levels of the skin.

At Night:

  • Do you know how much your skin goes through during every minute of the day? You probably don’t. Let me tell you!! Throughout the day, dirt particles get accumulated on your skin. But you don’t want that dirt to cause skin problems such as pigmentation, acne, and lack of hydration. So, you must cleanse your face thoroughly and follow a proper skincare routine.
  • Honestly, most people think of cleansing as a part of the make-up removal process at night. But it’s so much more than just removing the make-up. Even if you haven’t applied make-up, it’s important to cleanse. As a result, your skin will regenerate itself during the night.
  • Your skin may feel dehydrated overnight ( because the peripheral temperature rises when you sleep), and your skin won’t feel healthy the next day if you skip cleansing at night.

Now, that you’re aware of its benefits, let’s dive into the process.

How to cleanse your face?

To cleanse your face, all you need is a cleanser/ face wash. It is the first step of a basic skincare routine. No matter if it’s dusk or dawn, cleansing always comes first.

Remember to clean/sanitise your hands before starting the process. Do not touch your face with dirty hands.

After washing your hands, put on some face wash/ cleanser on your hand and thoroughly massage it in circular motions on your face.

Normally, people rinse off their faces right away, but if you have some time on you then wait for 1-2 min. Let your skin absorb the essential ingredients and take out the dirt away. So, that you can have clean, hydrated and rejuvenated skin.

That’s all, we are done!

What type of cleansers should we use?

I know you have been waiting for this one for so long. So, let’s not waste any more of time and get straight into it.

The type of cleanser that you should apply to your skin depends upon the type of skin you have.

Types of cleansers:

  • Clay Cleanser: The most popular and effective cleanser. Best suitable for oily skin as it removes dirt and gives a mattified complexion to the skin. It is also recommended if you have clogged pores. You can consider these brands if you like- L’oreal, NTG, and Sand &Sky,
  • Micellar Water: It primarily acts as a make-up remover as it improves skin permeability. It’s suitable for all skin types ( including sensitive skin or skin with rosacea). Though you might wanna double cleanse if you are using this product. My go-to cleansers are from Bioderma and La Roche-Posay.
  • Cream Cleanser: It is a thick, creamy cleanser that cleans your face without causing any deficiency of natural oils to the skin. It is best suited for dry or sensitive skin. My favourites would be from La Roche-Posay, NTG and Murad.
  • Gel Cleanser: It is gentle on most skin types including acne-prone skin, oily skin, combination skin, and sensitive skin. For deep cleansing, it is the best form of cleanser. You can consider these brands if you like- La Roche-Posay, Saje, NTG and Bioderma.
  • Cleansing Towelettes: These are make-up wipes and if you’re lazy enough, consider this your best friend. But, I wouldn’t recommend you these for regular use. But if you need them, go for Burt’s Bees, Bioderma, NTG and Paula’s Choice.
  • Foam cleanser: One of the best types of cleansers that support deep cleansing and keeps your skin revitalized. But make sure you’re using one with natural ingredients, otherwise, there may be chances of irritation. Best suited for oily and acne-prone skin. I would recommend certain brands; Cetaphil, Thebodyshop, and Paula’s Choice.

I hope this post was helpful.
